{"id":1290,"date":"2014-09-01T15:50:16","date_gmt":"2014-09-01T15:50:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gallowaypicts.com\/wordpress\/?p=1290"},"modified":"2015-08-27T09:14:16","modified_gmt":"2015-08-27T09:14:16","slug":"1-september-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gallowaypicts.com\/gallowaypicts\/2014\/09\/01\/1-september-2014\/","title":{"rendered":"1 September 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0summary results of the excavation of Trusty&#8217;s Hill was published recently in the latest volume of the <em>Transactions of\u00a0the Dumfriesshire and Galloway Natural History and Antiquarian Society<\/em> (Volume 87, 2013).\u00a0This report is intended simply as an interim report, in advance of a\u00a0book reporting the full analyses and results, to be published by Oxbow Books next year. But it\u00a0sets out a summary of the findings from the 2012 fieldwork,\u00a0in particular why we think there is now a\u00a0compelling case for\u00a0locating\u00a0the core of the elusive kingdom of\u00a0Rheged in Galloway. This is based on the accumulating archaeological evidence emerging from Galloway for a kingdom without an historical record in a blank part of the map of Dark Age\u00a0 Britain, where Rheged, an historical kingdom without an archaeological record, has long been considered but never proven to be somewhere located.
