{"id":1640,"date":"2017-12-01T17:14:53","date_gmt":"2017-12-01T17:14:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gallowaypicts.com\/wordpress\/?p=1640"},"modified":"2017-12-01T17:14:53","modified_gmt":"2017-12-01T17:14:53","slug":"01-december-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gallowaypicts.com\/gallowaypicts\/2017\/12\/01\/01-december-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"01 December 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gallowaypicts.com\/gallowaypicts\/2017\/12\/01\/01-december-2017\/ca_vote_research_rheged-rediscovered_2018\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1641\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1641\" src=\"https:\/\/gallowaypicts.com\/gallowaypicts\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/CA_Vote_Research_Rheged-rediscovered_2018.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"215\" height=\"227\" \/><\/a>Almost exactly a year since our book was published by Oxbow, our work has been nominated in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archaeology.co.uk\/awards\/research-project-year-2018.htm\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc\">Research Project <\/span><\/span><\/a>of the Year category in the 2018 Current Archaeology Awards.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.archaeology.co.uk\/articles\/features\/rheged-rediscovered-uncovering-a-lost-british-kingdom-in-galloway.htm\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc\">Rheged rediscovered: uncovering a lost British kingdom in Galloway<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>was published earlier this year in Current Archaeology <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archaeology.co.uk\/issues\/current-archaeology-327-now-on-sale.htm\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc\">327<\/span><\/span><\/a> and summarises the results of our work at Trusty\u2019s Hill, which revealed a royal stronghold that lay at the heart of a lost Dark Age kingdom that was once pre-eminent in northern Britain.<\/p>\n<p>The full results of this work \u2013 <em>The Lost Dark Age Kingdom of Rheged: The Discovery of a Royal Stronghold at Trusty\u2019s Hill, Galloway<\/em> \u2013 is still available as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxbowbooks.com\/oxbow\/british-archaeology\/the-lost-dark-age-kingdom-of-rheged.html\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc\">hardback book<\/span><\/span><\/a>, though I hear that there&#8217;s not many copies left!<\/p>\n<p>However, it is also now available as an ebook, either as an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxbowbooks.com\/oxbow\/the-lost-dark-age-kingdom-of-rheged-51052.html\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc\">Epub<\/span><\/span><\/a> (e.g. for kindle readers etc) or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxbowbooks.com\/oxbow\/the-lost-dark-age-kingdom-of-rheged-51053.html\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc\">PDF<\/span><\/span><\/a> (for any device).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Almost exactly a year since our book was published by Oxbow, our work has been nominated in the Research Project of the Year category in the 2018 Current Archaeology Awards.
